Our Review of the Holland American Lines Cruise Ship Oosterdam

In 1871, Holland America Lines' history began as the Nederlandsche - Amerikaansche Stoomvaart Maatwsschappij. Headquartered in Rotterdam, Holland, and providing service to the North and South America, became known as Holland America Line.

In 1895 the company offered its first vacation cruise from New York and 1910 in his spare time cruising from New York to the Holy Land. Exposed in the 1970s by Holland America Line's transatlantic service and sell its cargo shipping division.Leave was to focus full-time to her. In 1989, Holland America Line has been a wholly owned division of Carnival Corporation, the largest cruise companies in the world.

Embarkation was smooth and easy. Drop out of the bag, in containers outside, go in, show ID and boarding pass, please fill out the questionnaire back to get in a short check-in line, show them the credit card you used to smile for the camera, snap another image and you are on board. Probably 20 minutes from arrival toThe first mojito on the Lido deck. I've never had a better embarkation.

The last time we were on the Oosterdam was in 2003 when she ourlet new, and I think someone has taken loving care of this beautiful boat. Today it is as beautiful as it was then. Our balcony cabin was really nice and has moved more than enough room for us to save all the clothes etc and went to relax with a glass of wine as the ocean.

Ok here we hit upon the only problem ofentire cruise to date. We had late seating and confirmed with a table for 8th We came to a top-4 with an older gentleman who was sailing on his first trip with Air America, and was assured of a great table-minded individuals.

It was ok, but not the comfortable evening. A short trip down to the Maitre D the next day to us with a table for 6 with two other couples who have been similarly disappointed in the evening. We had great table matesfor the rest of the trip.

The shore excursions, we have chosen, right up there with some of the best shore excursions, we have anywhere in the world-class experience. Cabo San Lucas in Todos Santos we went to lunch at the Hotel California. This is a very interesting journey through the desert of Baja California from the Bay to Cabo on the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific Ocean, where the driver stopped at an unscheduled spot, because there was to see many whales.

TheCity itself is very comfortable and some of the art, notable Rueben Gutierrez is spectacular. By the way Gutierrez pottery is very inexpensive. Then it was lunch at the Hotel California, which had wonderful food.

In Mazatlan, we signed feast for the shrimp. We went to a beautiful house, set on a hill overlooking the whole city, with beautiful gardens and beautiful terraces for the crowd. They served margaritas and beer and drinks throughout the day and a buffet with allCould eat shrimp, tortillas in three different styles, together with rice and beans and guacamole and salsa and chips and, of course.

A small gallery of artisans have been on the ground and bought my wife the most amazing citrine and freshwater pearl necklace, and then met the designer of the chain that make it clip on earrings to go with him and their e-mail if they designed it had offered.

In Puerto Vallarta, we have "Rhythms of the Night" and you do not, do not miss an outing! Itcatamaran begins with a one hour drive to a private beach with tiki torches lit and absolutely magnificent. The catamaran crew put a show that was pretty good.

The dinner was truly memorable as each party is a table for the number of people had called them. It was a buffet, but there were so many buffet tables set up so that there are no lines. Waiters brought drinks and whatever else you wanted, and then there is a show in an amphitheater. I admit, I was not looking forward tothe show because some of the cultural shows are boring, but this was spectacular. Then we took the catamaran back to the ship with all the stars, the lights of Puerto Vallarta and finally the beautiful Oosterdam illuminated for the evening. It was great!

The landing was as smooth as the embarkation. Think about it when I said the rooms were not ready until 1:30? If you fold, you can stay in your cabin until they call your luggage tag color. This is great! Then goshow on deck 2, a short distance, your passport, and give the declaration of an official. And then quickly pick up your luggage in our case, take the first taxi in line, and it's off to the airport. Could not have been smoother!

We both work for us and build a cruise website while driving. The Internet is an essential part of the cruise for us and on the Oosterdam, we had wireless access in our cabin. You can buy all the packages from $ 100 for 250 minutes (40 cents per minute),up. You can also several minutes as you need them and if you have a package and run by you are logged in, they are presented with the package calls from your account.

This was our 11th cruise in 9 years and I must say, even if we had been to these ports before, this was one of the best cruises we ever met!
